• The state desperately needs more housing. Could an old Army barracks at Devens be part of the answer? (bostonglobe.com) — State officials are exploring major new housing on surplus public land, including a plan developed with Concord officials to reimagine the shuttered prison along Route 2 as a new neighborhood. At the same time, MassDevelopment is pushing to convert Devens' historic Vicksburg barracks into apartments, though environmental cleanup and complex multi-town zoning votes remain big hurdles.
