Local Actors to Perform "Pippin"
Pippin performances are July 14-23 at Regis College in Weston
A group of local students have been hard at work this summer in Regis College’s Eleanor Welch Casey Theatre as part of Weston Drama Workshop’s program for high school and college-aged students. Pippin, Stephen Schwartz’s hit musical, will be performed by over thirty high school and college-aged actors.
The show features several Concord residents, including Ryan Baker, who plays Theo. “It’s been amazing,” said Ryan, a first-time participant at Weston Drama Workshop. “I’ve made so many great friends. I came in here knowing two people, and I was so nervous. But after the first day, it erupted into these beautiful friendships that I hope will last forever.” Caroline Granahan, another new participant, added: “It’s been challenging to remember all the dances- especially the ones I’m the dance captain for, because I feel like I have to know them really well. It’s been amazing, though. I’ve had so much fun.”
Director Brian Kelly is also a new face at Weston Drama Workshop, but certainly has an impressive theatre resume, having directed at many local companies in addition to having been a founding member of Flyleaf Theater Company. During the year, Kelly is a teacher at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough. Baker and Granahan both praised Kelly’s directing style and theatrical knowledge.
