Local Interior Designer, Mally Skok Receives 2016 Designers' Pineapple Award

Local designer Mally Skok recognized for her work with the Junior League of Boston Show House

Celebrating the 45th Anniversary of Show House, the Junior League of Boston has announced that the 2016 Show House will be the 1854 Nathaniel Allen House in Newton, Massachusetts. This premier design event will be held May 7, 2016 through June 5, 2016 and will feature the creative talents of the Boston area’s finest designers. This is the sixth Show House for local designer Mally Skok of Mally Skok Interior Design and she is also the proud winner of the 2016 Designers’ Pineapple Award.

Mally Skok Design is an interior design firm specializing in private residences and small commercial projects. Based in the town of Lincoln, the firm was started in 1998 by Mally Skok, whose design flair was acquired over many years living in London, Boston and South Africa. Mally has completely redesigned “The Nursery” in the Nathaniel Allen House with her signature fabrics and wallpapers. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, the Nathaniel Allen House was the site of the earliest co-educational school in the country and was a stop on the Underground Railroad. Owned by the Newton Cultural Alliance (NCA) since 2012, the property will support small and medium sized performances and cultural events.

The Pineapple Award was created in 1999 as a way to honor the generosity and commitment of the designers and is presented to one who demonstrates the utmost creativity and dedication to their art as well as to the mission of the Junior League of Boston. We are pleased to honor Mally with the 2016 award in celebration of her work in her practice as well as the countless hours she has devoted in support of the Show House.

The Show House will open to the public on Mother’s Day Weekend, starting May 7th, and running through June 5th. The Nathaniel Allen House is located at 35 Webster Street in West Newton. Hours are Wednesday 10:00am-4:00pm, Thursday and Friday 10:00am - 8:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 10:00am - 5:00pm. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. Every Wednesday Mally and other participating designers will be on hand to answer questions and interact with visitors. Numerous other special events and speakers are planned throughout the month, including a Garden Day, an Antiques Appraisal event and programs presented by Historic Newton.
