Rise Up! A Night to Benefit the Clover Foundation

Featuring true life stories by MOTH and MassMouth Story Slam winners

On Saturday, November 17th, the Clover Foundation will hold Rise Up!, A Night to Spark Change at Temple Kerem Shalom. The annual benefit will celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Foundation, which supports the education of 80 underserved young children in Kampala, Uganda. The evening will feature true-life stories by members of the Clover community who have visited Uganda and MOTH and MassMouth Story Slam winners and hosts from Fugitive Stories.

It has been a year of exciting growth for the Foundation. For the past five years, Clover Pre-school has been located at the home of the Ugandan director. However, thanks to generous gifts from local residents, Clover recently purchased a nearby property to house the pre-school and, in time, a primary school. Gavin Robb, a Boston-area architect leading the redesign of the property, will travel to Kampala next month to visit the site and meet with Clover’s Ugandan board and teachers.

“The generous support we have received has created a thrilling new future for Clover,” said Diane Mercer, Co-chair of the Clover Board. “Our challenge now is to build a new school while continuing to educate our students. We hope special gifts at Rise Up! will help us do just that.”
