Tenebrae Service, April 1 at Trinity Episcopal Church

Soprano Sally Sanford sings "Lamentations of Jeremiah" by Johann Rosenmüller. Wednesday at 7:30 PM

On Wednesday, April 1, at 7:30 PM, Trinity Episcopal Church invites you to take part In the meditative service of Tenebrae (Latin for “shadows“). In this service of psalms, responses and meditation, we ponder images of darkness and light. Punctuated by the extinguishing of candles, a small group will chant psalms of despair and of hope, juxtaposed against sung verses or lessons from the Lamentations of Jeremiah. Concord resident Sally Sanford, soprano, will sing settings of these lessons written by 17th-century German composer Johann Rosenmüller. Catherine Liddell, theorbo, and Robert Barney, organ, will accompany her.

All of Trinity’s Holy Week services are open to the public at no charge. Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 81 Elm Street in Concord and is fully handicap-accessible. For further information on Trinity’s services and programs, please call our Parish Office 978/369-3715 or visit our web page, www.trinityconcord.org.
