After reflection and prayerful discernment during his recent ministerial sabbatical, Rev. Lombard concluded that now is the time to enjoy a new season in life together with his wife Janet, who recently retired after 30 years of public school teaching. In his letter to the congregation, Rev. Lombard cited the passage from Ecclesiastes “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

Chair of the Board of Deacons Betsy Swaim responded to Rev. Lombard’s retirement in a letter to the congregation. “Forty years ago John was called by God into a vocation of ordained ministry, and now, after 23 years serving us as Senior Minister at TriCon he is being called by God to retire. Even as we are saddened by this news, we affirm his decision. John has touched all our lives with his pastoral leadership and spiritual guidance and we are most appreciative of his many years of dedication to this church community. His support of this church, its members as well as the greater Concord community at large is known by all who have had the privilege to work with him or been fortunate enough to avail themselves of his support, leadership and guidance.”
