Trinity Adult Forum for March 6: What is Lent?

Trinity parishioners Jim and Jeannette Woodman take a look at origins, observances and components of Lent.

Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord invites you to its Sunday morning Adult Forum, Trinity’s adult education program, which meets most weeks at 9 AM to hear to hear speakers sharing their ideas and experiences on important aspects of connecting faith with everyday life. On Sunday, March 13 at 9 AM, Trinity parishioners Jim and Jeannette Wood take a look at Lent. What are the origins of Lent and how has the observance developed and changed over the centuries? What are the theological and liturgical components of Lent? They will conclude with a readings from poetry and literature appropriate to the season.

Jim and Jeannette Wood are members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord. Jim is a past Junior Warden; he is a graduate of Yale University and the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has given several Forum talks on the history and interpretation of many books of the Bible. Jeannette is a well-known voice teacher and soprano who has been an occasional soloist at Trinity.

Trinity’s invited Forum speakers come from many walks of life and have addressed all manner of topics -- serious, mysterious, personal and world-focused. Among our recent topics are pilgrimage, faith lost and found, histories and Biblical persons, death, dying and grieving, parenting, stewardship, education, and much more.
