Trinity Episcopal Church: Lessons & Carols for Epiphany, January 9

Carols and motets, readings and more for "Little Christmas" at Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord.

The Feast of the Epiphany (January 6) is known in many places as “Little Christmas” and is almost more important than December 25. Traditionally, the celebration of Christmas lasts for 12 days. Here at Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord, we conclude our celebration of the Christmas Season with a traditional service of Lessons and Carols on Saturday, January 9 at 5 PM in Trinity’s Main Sanctuary at 81 Elm Street in Concord, MA.

This service includes nine lessons with music sung by Trinity’s Junior, Youth, and Parish Choirs along with carols for the congregation to retell the story of salvation, as has been the tradition at King’s College in Cambridge, England since 1911.

Music director Robert Barney will lead the three choirs in arrangements of carols and motets by David Willcocks, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Morton Lauridsen, Anton Bruckner, John Dankworth, Clarence Dickinson, S. Drummond Wolff and others. The Lessons will be read by Trinity’s choir members, staff and clergy.

All in the community are invited to join us for this annual “Little Christmas” program. Lessons and Carols for Epiphany is open to the public at no charge.

For information on this and other music programs at Trinity Episcopal Church, please call the Parish Office, 978-369-3715, or visit our webpage.
