DANVERS, MA — The flag is set to fly high over downtown Danvers once again after a new pole was put in place over the weekend to replace the one damaged in a spring storm.

The Danvers Department of Public Works Buildings Division and Planet Flag Pole assembled the flag pole once it arrived last week and put it up starting on Friday.

Danvers DPW said the flag was raised on Monday after the pole had a chance to settle in place.

A fast-moving burst of heavy snow and strong winds took a toll on the Danvers town flagpole back on Feb. 28. The pole had to be taken down and assessed for damage to avoid the risk of injury to those around it.

It was then decided that the Danvers Square pole on Maple Street needed to be replaced.

After some delays, the pole — which has been a Danvers Square fixture for two days — was back in place after a seven-month absence.
