There's A New Top Dog (Eater) At The Topsfield Fair
Brandon Wood of Warren set a Topsfield Fair record by downing the equivalent of 20 regular-sized hot dogs in just seven minutes.

DANVERS, MA — Next Stop: Coney Island?
While it's not quite a world championship, Brandon Wood of Warren did capture the title as the North Shore's top hot dog eater on Saturday as he downed the equivalent of 20 regular hot dogs in just seven minutes to set a new record for the Topsfield Fair's 4-year-old contest.
Wood, who stood throughout all the devouring as a winning strategy on Saturday, ate 10 quarter-pound hot dogs — which are twice the size of a regular hot dog — as well as the buns to break the record of 9 1/2 dogs set by Pete Davekos of Danvers in last year's contest.

Wood won $204 for his efforts courtesy of the kosher contest sponsor's Bnai Brith.
The contest was part of a busy opening weekend that included a record giant pumpkin weighing in at nearly 2,500 pounds on Friday and the crowning of the Topsfield Fair Junior King and Junior Queen on Saturday.
