Brewery Zoning Change Passes Dedham Town Meeting

Breweries, distilleries, and wineries with tasting rooms can now open in Dedham with a special permit.

DEDHAM, MA — Soon, you'll be able to enjoy alcohol made locally in Dedham.

Monday night, Dedham Special Town Meeting approved a zoning change that will allow for breweries, distilleries, and wineries with tasting rooms as along as they have a special permit, according to the Boston Globe. The zoning change was made for a company that would like to make sake in town and warehouse and distribute Japanese rice wine.

Town meeting also passed the Community Preservation Act which adds a 1 percent surcharge to property taxes for projects that involve historic preservation, open space, and affordable housing. That measure will now be on the town election ballot in April 2017.
