Dedham Police Log: Credit Card Fraud, Hit & Run, Shoplifting Arrest, Stolen Property

A look at recent police-related incidents in Dedham.

The following are incidents taken from the Dedham Police log.

June 22, 3:37 p.m. - A woman told police someone had used her credit card even though it was in her possession. The suspect attempted multiple transactions with the card. The woman was given an identity theft package. Police are investigating the matter.

June 23, 7:42 a.m. - A caller reported a hit-and-run accident on Circuit Road. The caller said they observed a black pick-up truck driving erratically in the area the night before. Shortly thereafter they heard a loud bang. The next morning they discovered their car had been struck outside of their house. Police confirmed the damage. Neighbors reported seeing a black truck at the time of the incident. Police are investigating.

June 24, 2:39 p.m. - An officer was called to the Sears on the Providence Highway for reports of a shoplifter in custody. It was learned the suspect, Elizabeth Fleming, had a warrant out of Brockton District Court. Fleming was placed under arrest. The store told the officer Fleming had attempted to steal merchandise totaling $650, including jewelry. Loss prevention apprehended her while police were contacted. The items were recovered.

June 24, 6:34 p.m. - A man informed police his laptop had been stoled from the lobby of a Holiday Inn hotel. He said he put down a leather bag containing a Dell laptop. He then discovered it missing after leaving it in the lobby for a few hours. The bag contained an iPad as well. Police are investigating as the man fears his personal information could be compromised.
