Dedham Police Log: IRS Scam, Owl in Fireplace, Slashed Car Tire
A look at recent police-related incidents from around Dedham.

The following information is provided by the Dedham Police Department.
Tuesday July 14, 2015: A man reported he was the victim of an IRS phone scam, telling officers he received a call from what sounded like a computer generated voice. The call informed the man that he owed money to the IRS, requesting an immediate call. Upon calling back, the man revealed personal information to the IRS imposter, including his social security number. Police urged the man to contract his credit card companies immediately as they suspected it to be a scam.
Tuesday July 14, 2015: Animal Control responded to a home for a report of an owl trapped inside a fireplace. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a small Screech Owl in the fireplace. The animal was safely removed and placed outside.

Friday July 17, 2015: A woman informed officers that one of her car tires was slashed during the overnight hours. The vehicle’s owner noticed the damage the next morning. She informed officers that she did not have any suspects in mind.
