Dedham Police Log: Multi-Car Accident, Shoplifting Arrest, Stolen Generators

Information regarding the following incidents was provided by the Dedham Police Department.
July 6: An officer responded to Washington Street for a report of a phone scam. Upon arriving at the scene, an individual told the officer he received a call from people claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. The suspected caller stated the man had won money and that he needed to send the company money in order to claim the offered prize. The officer instructed the caller to freeze his accounts until the situation is resolved.
July 7: An officer responded to an accident involving four vehicles. According to police, a driver attempting to turn right on a green light stuck another vehicle with an attached trailer. The driver lost control and went off the road. As a result, a third vehicle stopped short and was then struck from behind by a fourth driver. Injuries were reported.

July 7: An officer responded to TJ Maxx for a reported shoplifter. The suspect was identified as Karen Johnson. After a check, the officer learned Johnson had an outstanding warrant out of Dorchester District Court. Johnson was arrested and booked.
July 7: Police learned two generators, valued at $5,000 each, were stolen from a work zone on Route 109. The generators had been chained down and were last noticed present on July 3. Police are investigating the matter.
