Dedham Police Log: Shoplifting Incident, Taxi Fare Evasion, and More

The following is from the Dedham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

September 15

8:12 a.m. - Malicious damage to a camper was reported on Sherwood Street.

10:25 a.m. - A vehicle at the intersection of Washington Street and Route 1 was about to enter the rotary when a second vehicle pulled alongside the right side of the first vehicle and attempted to pass on the right. The two vehicles made contact and the second vehicle struck the cub and the oil pan was punctured. The driver of the vehicle that attempted to pass received a citation for a passing violation.

September 16

12:15 p.m. - Police made two shoplifting arrests in connection to an incident at Old Navy on Route 1. After police received a report of a shoplifting incident at the store, an officer observed a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s car on Washington Street. After comparing photos from the store to the occupants of the car, Jamie King, 29 and Shaunte Johniken, 35 were arrested and charged with larceny over $250 and receiving stolen property over $250. King was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense).

September 17

1:50 a.m. - An officer responded to a taxi fare invasion on Flannagan Place. The driver told police that he picked up two men and when he dropped them off, they fled. Police were able to contact the person who called the driver, who denied that he was in the cab and said someone must have copied his number and used it as a fake number,. When the officer said he would request a hearing in Dedham District Court, the man said “Good Luck! I’ll be checking the mail for my summons.”

September 18

10:36 a.m. - A driver on Hillside Road received a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The car’s license plates were confiscated by an officer.
