Dedham Police Officer Arrested on Warrant, Placed on Leave
Officer Michael Schoener was taken into custody Wednesday, police said.

A Dedham police officer was arrested on a warrant Wednesday and placed on leave from the the department, officials announced.
Dedham Police said in a statement Wednesday that Officer Michael Schoener was taken into custody under the arrest warrant issued in relation to a “Grand Jury indictment in association with an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office.”

“On Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, the Dedham Police Department was made aware of the issuance of an arrest warrant for Officer Michael Schoener. This warrant was issued in relation to a Grand Jury indictment in association with an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. Officer Schoener was taken into custody under this warrant earlier today. He is scheduled to be arraigned during the afternoon. Officer Schoener has been placed on leave from the Dedham Police Department. There are ongoing criminal internal investigation under way. No further information on this matter will be made available at this time.”
According to CBS Boston, Schoener was arrested in connection with the disappearance of an Avon man this past January, when two men reportedly arrived at his home, displayed law enforcement badges and drove him away. Schoener allegedly provided the police-related equipment used in the incident, and was arraigned in Norfolk District Court Wednesday on charges of accessory before kidnapping, according to CBS.
