Dedham Town Planner Leaving For Norfolk
Richard McCarthy recently told the selectmen that he has accepted an offer to become Norfolk's town planner.

DEDHAM, MA — After seven years on the job, Dedham Town Planner Richard McCarthy will soon report to work at a different Town Hall at a town down Route 1A.
McCarthy recently told the selectmen that he has accepted an offer to become Norfolk's town planner. He leaves following a tenure that includes the redevelopment of Dedham Square and East Dedham.
"I met a lot of hard working dedicated people. It really makes things happen and there's a lot of great dedicated people here. Over the past seven years I got to work on a lot of fun projects and challenging ones," McCarthy said.

McCarthy said he accepted the Norfolk position so he would be able to spend more time with his family.
As far as challenges, McCarthy added that Norfolk has been hit by 40B housing and is looking to add some commercial use to their town.

The board wished McCarthy luck with his new job.
"You've always done a great job. You were always accessible by phone. It's a huge loss for Dedham but a great win for Norfolk," Selectman Dennis Keough said.
