Get Ready for the Dedham Four on Fourth Road Race

Dedham, MA – Before the bar-b-ques start and the first hot dog hits the grill, Dedham will run in honor of a girl who has been battling a rare bone cancer for six years.

The Dedham Fourth on the Fourth road race is once again set for Monday morning at 9 a.m. at Fairbanks Field. The race is in honor of Sally Naser, a Dedham resident who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a bone cancer in May 2010. According to race organizers, Naser needed hemotherapy and surgery. For the young girl, that meant, the removal of half her right femur, knee joint, the top of her tibia and other surrounding tissue, according to the race's website.

Over the years, Naser has had five surgeries, and several rounds of surgeries, including an experimental phase 1 immunotherapy treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital.
