Hundreds Unite in Rally Against Pipeline Project
Nearly 300 protestors gathered Sunday for a rally staged by the group Resist the Pipeline and Stop the West Roxbury Lateral.

Protestors opposed to the building of Spectra Energy’s natural gas pipeline project flocked from far and wide Sunday afternoon. They formed a human chain along the planned construction route in a sign of opposition.
Nearly 300 protestors gathered Sunday for a rally staged by the group Resist the Pipeline and Stop the West Roxbury Lateral. All in attendance clearly made their feelings known.
Those gathered marched along the route of the pipeline, forming a human chain at the Dedham-West Roxbury line.

Local religious leaders kicked off the rally with a short service before protestors began their march.
Residents in Dedham and West Roxbury are strongly opposed to Spectra’s project because the pipeline is slated to be built alongside an active blasting quarry. Those in the area fear for their health and safety.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, among other influential voices across the city, have worked to halt construction of the pipeline.
