New State Budget Provides Dedham With Local Funding
The funding will assist with the revitalization and enrichment of the town's resources.

The Fiscal Year 2016 State Budget, which was recently finalized, will provide the Town of Dedham with $300,000 in funding for local projects.
$200,000 was allocated to the Mother Brook Arts and Community Center and $100,000 for a feasibility study to develop a canoe launch, walking paths, and hiking trails in the Town of Dedham, State Senator Mike Rush (D-Norfolk & Suffolk) and State Representative Paul McMurtry (D-Dedham) announced.
Senator Rush’s amendment to provide $200,000 for the Mother Brook Arts and Community Center will provide critical structural improvements to the Center.

Representative McMurtry’s open space initiative will assist with Dedham’s Open Space and Recreation Master Plan.
“This additional funding assists with the revitalization and enrichment of the town’s resources,” said Senator Mike Rush. “I commend the work of my colleagues and especially my legislative counterpart in Dedham, Rep. McMurtry, for advocating for these much-needed funds.

The State Budget was completed last week when the House and Senate overrode Governor Baker’s vetoes of this funding for the Mother Brook Arts and Community Center and the open space initiative.
