Police Log: Several Vehicle Break-Ins Reported
The following information was provided by the Dedham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.
Monday, July 21
At about 7:18 a.m., police responded to Dale Street on a report that a vehicle was entered and discovered a GPS unit, worth about $200, had been stolen from within the vehicle.
At 10:25 a.m., police responded to Best Buy on a report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival police spoke with Loss Prevention, who claimed they watched a suspect cut the top open to an Android “Gophone” and conceal it. The phone was valued at about $80, and while exiting the store, the suspect was stopped and escorted to security. The male suspect was then summonsed and released.

At 1:26 p.m., police received a report from a Whitehall Street resident who claimed a man had entered her back yard and said someone had been trying to shoot him and asked if he could hide in her basement. When the resident refused, the man reportedly left the area, according to police records.

At 8:11 a.m., police received a report from a caller on Cedar Street who had found a syringe on the side of the road about 20 yards from the entrance to the nearby train station. Officers responded and secured several syringes.
At 11:30 a.m., police received a report of a stolen vehicle from a local rental business.
At 1:02 p.m., police responded to Bussey Street on a report of a stolen sign from an area business. Police spoke with an individual in the area who claimed her sign had been taken by a man in his early 20s, who was seen getting into a red Chevy Envoy before driving away. Police later located the vehicle and spoke with two male occupants, both of whom denied taking any signs from the business. Police were unable to find any signs in the vehicle, and subsequently informed the business owner.
At 7:18 p.m., Dedham police received a report of a GPS unit taken from within a vehicle.
Thursday, July 24
At around 10:53 a.m., police responded to Patriot Motors on Washington Street on a report that one of the rental cars on the lot had been hit overnight. The vehicle, a grey Toyota Avalon, had scratches on the driver’s side door and blue paint could be seen on the vehicle as well. The matter is under investigation; no suspect vehicle has been described or found.
At 6:40 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle on Legacy Boulevard, occupied by two females and one male. The male was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt, and the man told police he had just moved to Massachusetts and had never had a license or been arrested. Police were able to obtain the man’s wallet, which contained a Massachusetts driver’s license; police later discovered the man had warrants outstanding for his arrest, and arrested the man, Nichoals Zemeitus, 29, of Milton without incident, according to police reports. He was later transported to the Milton Police Department on the warrants.
Friday, July 25
At 6:20 a.m., police responded to Commonwealth Avenue on a report of two vehicles entered. A 2002 grey Chevrolet 2500 had been entered and ransacked overnight, but nothing was reported missing from within the vehicle. Another vehicle, a 2011 Nissan Altima, was entered and ransacked, but also nothing had been reported taken.
At 8:40 a.m., police received a report that a green 2002 Mercury Mountaineer had been entered while parked in the owner’s driveway. A Garmin GPS was reportedly stolen.
At 9:52 a.m., police responded to another report of a vehicle having been entered on Commonwealth Avenue. The owner told police she did not lock the car prior to it having been entered; nothing was reported missing, but police were able to obtain a pair of eyeglasses that were found in the vehicle owner’s front yard.
At 10:06 a.m., police responded to Fuller Street on a report of a vehicle having been entered. Upon arrival police found no sign of forced entry and believed the vehicle had been unlocked. The glove compartment was reportedly opened and all contents pulled out. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.
At 4:05 p.m., police received a report that a customer of a business at Legacy Place became upset about a return and a family member allegedly made threats to bomb the business.
At 4:45 p.m., police received a report from a resident that her vehicle, a 2012 Hyundai Elantra, had been entered and a Garmin GPS had been taken from within.
At 5:50 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle having been entered on Wiggin Avenue. A Garmin GPS had been taken from the vehicle, a 2007 Audi A4, according to police.
Saturday, July 26
At 1:48 p.m., the assistant manager of a business told police he received a call from a man who said he would put multiple explosive devices on the roof of the store on Bussey Street.
