Fire in Dedham Destroys River Street Building
Traffic on River Street was closed off for several hours while crews battled a fire on the Boston-Dedham line.

Crews responded to a heavy fire at a storage structure on the Dedham-Boston line in the Hyde Park Area Thursday afternoon. The structure was completely destroyed, according to fire officials.
The blaze broke out on 1911 River Street just before 1 p.m. River Street carries traffic from Dedham into Boston.

The road was closed for several hours as traffic was detoured onto Milton Street, police say.
Officials say the fire was heavy in nature. Lots of smoke could be seen billowing into the air. The fire caused an estimated $75,000 worth of damage.

No one was injured during the incident.
The Dedham Fire Department will investigate the matter. Boston fire officials say the majority of the building is located in Dedham.
