Selectwoman Sarah MacDonald Thanks Voters, Talks Communication

In a letter to the editor, newly elected Selectwoman Sarah MacDonald thanks voters and talks open communication. MacDonald, along with Dimitria Sullivan were elected to the Board of Selectmen in Dedham's town election on April 13. She finished with 2,408 votes, more votes than any other candidate.

I’d like to offer my deepest thanks to the voters of Dedham for electing me to the Board of Selectmen. I met and reconnected with so many people and had wonderful conversations about what interests and concerns residents these days. It was a pleasure to campaign alongside Dimitria, Bill and Carmen, who pushed me to work even harder to earn a seat on the board.

I would also like to thank my campaign team, volunteers and friends who held signs, made calls and knocked on doors on my behalf. There is no feeling quite like knowing people will show up week after week in all kinds of weather to work for the future of our town.

I’m so grateful for my family, who made this commitment right alongside me and supported me through it all.

Now the work begins, and I am ready to execute on the priorities I articulated throughout the campaign — improving communication and engagement, planning for the next stage of Dedham’s growth and evolution and finding creative solutions to challenges we face.
