Serious I-93 Wreck Backs Up Traffic Into Dedham
Lanes were closed while officials cleared crash scene in Canton.

A four-vehicle accident on Interstate 93 north in Canton left a woman and one-year-old boy with serious injuries Friday morning.
The Massachusetts State Police say the crash, which happened around 10:30 a.m., was a chain-reaction due to a string of rear-end collisions.
Police say a tractor-trailer truck crushed the car that the woman and boy were traveling in.

They were rushed to the hospital for treatment of serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
A medical helicopter was called in to transport the woman to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. A state trooper drove the boy via ambulance to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, allowing EMTs to tend his injuries in the back.

Lanes on both sides of the highway were closed in both directions while officials tended to the scene. Gridlock traffic extended as far north as Dedham. Motorists experienced delays of over an hour.
