Slow Down! Selectmen Approve New 25 MPH Speed Limit

DEDHAM, MA — Take it easy on the roads, a few of them are about to have a lower speed limit.

The selectmen approved a new 25 mph limit on some roadways Thursday night. The change applies to all town-owned thickly settled roadways and does not affect any state highways or roads with a posted speed limit such as High Street, Bridge Street, Milton Street, and Route 1.

The Municipal Modernization Act of 2015 allows municipalities lower the statutory speed limit for roads without speed limit signs. A full list of exempted roads will be posted on the town’s website in the near future.
