Town To Host Community Discussion On East Dedham Square

The Town of Dedham will be hosting a community discussion, 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 7, at the Mother Brook Arts & Community Center.

From the Town of Dedham:

The Town of Dedham will be hosting a community discussion, 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 7, at the Mother Brook Arts & Community Center, 123 High St. to gather information about ways to improve the public spaces in and around East Dedham Square.

Fifty years ago, “urban renewal” razed this historic mill village and redesigned the streets for automobile traffic. Those changes benefited motorists at the expense of other uses. East Dedham Square’s streets and sidewalks could function better for everyone—whether they’re walking, running, biking, driving, shopping, or just hanging out.

The Saturday morning meeting time was chosen to enable more seniors, families, and young people to participate.

The streetscape improvements project will build on the East Dedham Design Guidelines, which were completed earlier this year. More information and those guidelines are online.
