WINDD Event About Women in Politics
The Dedham organization will also have information about the upcoming Dedham election.

Women in Democracy-Dedham (WINDD) will host its first event of 2015 on Monday, Feb. 9, at Newbridge on the Charles in the Shapiro Community Center on 5000 Great Meadow Rd. in Dedham.
The event, entitled Take Your Seat: A Panel Discussion About Women in Politics, will start at 7:30 p.m.

Formed to encourage more women to run for local politics, WINDD is hosting this event to highlight the opportunities and need for women in politics. Take Your Seat will be a lively discussion about women participation in local and state politics.
Former Dedham Selectperson Sarah MacDonald will moderate and panelists include:

- Betty Taymor, expert in Gender, Leadership and Politics, author of “Running Against the Wind: The Struggle of Women in Massachusetts Politics,” and the founder of the Boston-based Program for Women in Political and Government Careers.
- Sylvia Chaplain, the first woman to run for state-wide office in New Hampshire and a former Chair of the NH Committee on the US Commission on Civil Rights and member of the NH Commission on the Status of Women.
- WINDD will have information available about the upcoming Dedham election, including dates for the spring election cycle and resources for candidates for office.
