Reflections on childhood memory of family time

How many times have you heard this cliche statement?  Since I can remember, I  watched the Wizard of Oz on television every year with my family through out my childhood. Hearing this statement, seeing clips of this musical either on TV, stage, or even at MGM Studios at Disney World brings me back to the times before VCR's, DVD's and TiVO - when families would look forward to watching a family movie together. We would eat an early dinner and gather around our one color TV and watch as a family. You couldn't stop the TV or fast forward through commercials.  All this seems so long ago but in reality this was at a time when life was slower and families were often home together at night for both dinner and then to watch a movie on TV.

To bring this feeling to more current times, 10 years ago a group of parents under the directorial leadership of Keith Greenfield brought the stage production of The Wizard of Oz in Open Fields musical debut at Dover-Sherborn High School. This was a time when each of our own families participated together to perform, produce and pull together a show with memories that also last a lifetime.
