Blog: Watch Michael Lisnow Respite Center Marathon Runners LIVE

The Michael Lisnow Respite Center in Hopkinton has many committed folks running in today's marathon. The Center has deep roots in the community and is a great story.

I just read Ben's article about Ryan Debin. It is great to see folks in the community doing such wonderful things.

I just wanted to put in a plug for the Respite Center in Hopkinton, http://www.hopkintonrespite.com/. They have nearly 90 folks running for them today. A major sponsor is EMC and they even have live EMC TV going right now
http://www.facebook.com/mclrespitecenter/app_142371818162.

The Respite Center was started by two women from Sherborn in honor of one of
the women's sons, Michael Lisnow, who died about 15 years ago on Marathon
day. He was a disabled student who was very much a part of the Pine
Hill community at the time. The Center provides services, support, housing, and all sorts of things for folks who are developmentally disabled and
their families. It is an unbelievable place. Many DS students have and
continue to work with the great folks there.

It is a great story having deep roots in this community, which is largely
untold. Folks might want to check it out.

One of the runners for the Respite Center is my daughter Janet, a DS grad from
2005. She has been involved with Respite since her High School days. Our
family has been fortunate to get to know a number of the residents.  They
enrich our lives. Needless to say, I am a proud dad!

Thanks to so many runners who are running for so many great causes today!
