Article 22

What if urine was the key to healthier drinking water in Falmouth?

Article 22 is a vote to appropriate $1.9 million to finance a provisional pilot project, consistent with any recommendations by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, "to evaluate urine diversion as a method for effectively reducing the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus entering Town waters in support of the Town’s comprehensive wastewater management plan."

This vote also requires a two-thirds vote to be approved.

Finance Committee recommendation: Indefinite postponement on the grounds that the project isn't ready to move forward. However, $80,000 of American Rescue Act funding has been provided to strengthen the proposal.

Result: Voted down.

Article 33

In this vote, the town would authorize the Select Board to petition the General Court for a special act that would impose a real estate transfer fee to be used to acquire, create, preserve, rehabilitate, restore and support affordable housing locally.

Finance Committee recommendation: That town meeting vote to approve this article.

Result: Approved
