Buzzards Bay Searched After 'Mumbled' Mayday Calls

BUZZARDS BAY, MA – Authorities are searching Buzzards Bay for possible missing boaters after receiving two unclear mayday calls Wednesday night. The Coast Guard received the first call from a "mumbled" male voice around 8:30 p.m. but could not establish communications, the agency said.

The call was repeated around 20 minutes later with the same results. The exact location, type of boat, nature of distress and number of people onboard are unknown, according to the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard and the Buzzards Bay Task Force have been searching through the night.
