SANDWICH, MA — Zohaib Malik-Mohammad was identified as the five-year-old boy who nearly drowned in a Sandwich pond over the weekend, according to a fundraiser created by his family.
Police were called to Forestdale Pond at 7 p.m. on Sunday after Malik-Mohammad was reported missing at Snake Pond Beach in Forestdale. Police were updated moments later that the boy was found underwater, and unresponsive.
After being transported to Falmouth Hospital, a GoFundMe page shared that Malik-Mohammad was transferred to Boston Children's ICU. As of earlier this week, he is still in critical condition.

"Many of you know his father Mubashir 'Mobie' from the Forestdale Shell Station on Route 130, they are a very loved family in our Forestdale neighborhood," said organizer Christine Ross.
"We are creating this Go Fund Me in hopes of supporting all of the needs that arise during this difficult time."
A community gathering is also scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday on the back field at the Forestdale School.
"The outpouring of support for this beloved child and family has been remarkable, we look forward to coming together to support one another, our community, and this family in love and unity," the event page on Facebook read.
