Cape Cod Woman Thought She Had Appendicitis, Then She Went Into Labor
A Bourne woman had no idea she was pregnant until a recent emergency room trip for what she thought was appendicitis.
BOURNE, MA — A Cape Cod woman made a trip to the emergency room on Tuesday morning for what she believe was appendicitis. What she left with was so much more.
Brittney Malouin, of Bourne, posted to her Facebook page on Wednesday that rather than appendicitis, she was actually 41 weeks pregnant and in active labor.
That's how Malouin and Tom Grady, her partner, left the hospital with Gavin Robert Grady, their "miracle baby."

Malouin said that a urine test she took produced a negative result, but her blood test was positive.
She called it a cryptic pregnancy, adding in her Facebook post that they " happen very rarely."

"Research has shown that only around 1 in every 475 women will become pregnant and not know until they are past 20 weeks into their pregnancy. This number increases to 1 in 2500 women who don't know they are pregnant until they are giving birth," she added.
What's even more unlikely? Malouin said this is the second time something like this has happened.
"Being that 1 in 475 women, when I carried Bennett last year till 22 weeks pregnant before finding out I was pregnant with him," she said.
The family was also interviewed by CBS Boston. Watch below:
