Drunk, High, Texting Falmouth Teen Crashes SUV Into Boats: Police
Austin Winbush, of Falmouth, was drunk, high and texting when he crashed into a dock, police said.
FALMOUTH, MA — A Falmouth teenager was drunk, high and texting behind the wheel early Friday when he crashed his sport utility vehicle into a dock — damaging three boats — then slammed into a utility pole, according to police. Austin Winbush, who graduated from Falmouth High School last year, was arrested and charged with a host of crimes. Police said he was speeding at the time of the crash, had marijuana and Xanax in the vehicle, and did not possess a license.
Falmouth police Lt. Douglas DeCosta said Winbush was driving a sport utility vehicle south on Scranton Avenue when he hit a portable dock, which then struck three boats. Winbush then crashed into a utility pole, DeCosta said, adding Winbush injured his hand but refused medical treatment. Officers said they found marijuana and Xanax in the vehicle.
Winbush was charged with DUI (alcohol), DUI (marijuana), Xanax possession, driving without a license, using a vehicle without authority, texting while driving, negligent driving, a lane violation, and marijuana possession by an individual under the age of 21.
