WAREHAM, MA – An East Falmouth man faces a number of charges after he allegedly shoplifted from a Walmart in Wareham, assaulted an officer and fled the scene. According to the Boston Globe, 35-year-old Samuel Mills initially cooperated with the officer who responded to a report of shoplifting at the store around noon on Sunday.
As Mills was being placed under arrest, he allegedly assaulted the officer and ran toward the front of the store. The officer gave chase and collided with a store display, according to reports.
Mills ran to another store, took off his shirt and "took a fighting stance by blading his body and balling his fists," police alleged. The officer deployed his Taser, which did not hit Mills, but he did submit to being arrested.
