East Falmouth Man Pleads Guilty To Assault, Drug Charges

The 30-year-old and another man had 50 grams of fentanyl in their truck, according to police.

FALMOUTH, MA — An East Falmouth man pleaded guilty to assault and drug charges after police found 50 grams of fentanyl in his truck. Todd Lopes, 30, was driving 29-year-old Andrew Weldon, of New Bedford, out of a Falmouth campground when police tried to pull them over, the Cape Cod Times reported.

Lopes tried to flee and hit a detective's car, causing his truck to overturn. Police searched the truck and found 50 grams of fentanyl, according to the Cape Cod Times. Lopes pleaded guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, negligent operation of a vehicle and conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act.

Weldon pleaded guilty to two counts each of possession to distribute a class B substance and possession to distribute a class A substance (subsequent offenses), and one count each of possession to distribute a class D substance (subsequent offense), possession to distribute a class C substance (subsequent offense), conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act and witness intimidation.
