Falmouth Police Warn Of Gas, Electricity Scam

A new scam targeting Falmouth residents has emerged, police said Monday.

FALMOUTH, MA – Police are warning residents of a new scam that involves callers pretending to be from utility companies. The scammers typically threaten to shut off gas and electricity, police said.

Utility companies will not shut off services without prior notice and do not accept gift cards, according to police.

Residents are advised to end suspicious calls and contact Eversource at 1-800-592-2000 or National Grid at 1-800-233-5325.
