Falmouth Select Board Schedules Special Town Meeting

Through the special town meeting, the board hopes to add two positions: Assistant parks superintendent and sustainability coordinator.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth will hold a special town meeting in the hopes of adding two positions to the town's budget.

The Select Board voted to hold a special town meeting at a meeting on Feb.27 by a unanimous vote.

The special town meeting would happen on the first night of Falmouth's annual town meeting this April. According to Acting Town Manager Peter Johnson-Staub, this would be done so the board could add attempt to add two positions: Assistant parks superintendent and sustainability coordinator.

The assistant parks superintendent existed for many years, but will need to be added back in through town meetings after being eliminated in 2012.

There were other options for this, Johnson-Staub said.

These two positions could be voted on in November, or, there could be a decision to ask the town meeting moderator to take item 29 out of order, as to vote on the addition of these two positions prior to a vote on budgetary items.

The warrant for the special town meeting closed on March 1.
