Fireworks Likely Cause Of Falmouth Brush Fires: FD

Crews found three fires, each over an acre in size, burning off Old Barnstable Road Saturday.

FALMOUTH, MA — Fireworks may have caused three brush fires in Falmouth Saturday night, the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department said. Crews went to the Beagle Club area on Old Barnstable Road around 11 p.m. and found the fires burning. Each one was over an acre in size, according to the department.

The fires, which at one point burned approximately five acres, were brought under control after about an hour.

"This fire was most likely the result of illegal fireworks usage, and is being actively investigated by the FFRD, Falmouth Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriffs Office and the Mass State Police," the department said in a statement.
