Sandwich Crash: Driver Critically Hurt

A driver is fighting to survive after a bad crash in Sandwich Sunday, according to police.

SANDWICH, MA — A driver was critically hurt in a crash in Sandwich Sunday, according to police. The crash happened at about 12:40 a.m. on Route 130. Police said the driver was in a green 1998 Chevrolet Lumina traveling on the southbound side of the road when for an unknown reason the vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.

The driver was pulled from the wreckage and transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Due to the severity of the driver's injuries, he/she was then transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where she was listed in critical condition Monday.

The driver's identity was not released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
