Verilife In Wareham Approved To Start Selling Recreational Pot

The medical marijuana shop was at the center of a mix-up last week when an opening date was announced without state confirmation.

WAREHAM, MA - This time it's official. Wareham medical marijuana shop Verilife has received approval from the state to commence operations, the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission announced Monday.

Verilife can now start selling recreational marijuana in three days – Friday or later – which means it'll miss its previously announced opening date of Dec. 18.

The dispensary said Friday afternoon it was not officially confirmed to start selling recreational marijuana, despite previously announcing it would be the fourth cannabis dispensary in the state to offer recreational marijuana starting Tuesday.

"We hope to be able to release an opening date soon," the statement read, according to Wicked Local. "We apologize for any confusion and will keep you updated."

The Cannabis Control Commission approved a final license for Verilife on Nov. 1. It began selling medical marijuana over the summer.

The shop will be the first to open in southeastern Massachusetts. It will soon be joined by Northeast Alternatives in Fall River, which was one of four shops to receive approval at a Cannabis Control Commission hearing Thursday.
