Woods Hole Science Aquarium Seal "Kitt" Has Died

The young harbor seal was blind but healthy, officials said. Reports indicate that officials are running tests to determine a cause.

WOODS HOLE, MA — A young harbor seal living at the Woods Hole Science Aquarium has died, according to multiple media reports.

The Cape Cod Times is reporting that "Kitt", a 2-year-old harbor seal that was blind yet relatively healthy died on Monday. Preliminary testing indicates no signs of trauma or danger to her pool mate, but further testing is still being done.

The report states that officials at the aquarium are hoping to have a preliminary report by the end of the week.

Kitt was born in the wild, according to the aquarium, but came to Woods Hole following a boating accident that left her blind.

She shared a pool with Bubbam a 22-year-old harbor seal who lived most of his life with other seals at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island.
