Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees ALDS: 5 Best Moments From 2018

Relive the sweetest Red Sox moments of 2018 enjoyed at the Yankees' expense. Also, broadcast information, starting pitchers, first pitch.

BOSTON, MA — For the first time in 14 years, the Red Sox and Yankees will play for keeps in the postseason. The rivals will begin their best-of-five American League Division Series Friday night at Fenway Park. You can see Boston's full postseason schedule here.

The last time these two teams met in the postseason, the Red Sox exorcised 86 years worth of playoff demons by rallying from a 3-0 deficit in the 2004 ALCS, taking Game 7 in New York and going on to win the World Series.

This year, whichever team survives the first round plays the winner of the Houston-Cleveland ALDS beginning Friday afternoon. Both teams have been responsible for knocking the Sox out of the playoffs the past two seasons.

Broadcast information: First pitch is at 7:32 p.m. You can watch the game on TBS and listen to the local radio broadcast on WEEI 93.7.

Regular-season series: The Red Sox clinched a 10-9 season-series win by taking the final game of the year.

Fight Night: Read more about the brawl that renewed the rivalry earlier this season.
Starting pitchers: Chris Sale (12-4, 2.11 ERA) vs. JA Happ (17-6, 3.65 ERA). Sale looks to rebound from an injury-plagued second half and regain his dominant form against a Yankees team he has routinely owned. Happ has been unbeatable since the Yankees traded for him, winning all seven decisions with New York. He was effective against Boston this season.

Big-time sluggers: This series features two of the most prolific, relentless offenses in baseball. New York set an all-time MLB record for home runs in a season, thanks in large part to the gargantuan duo of Aaron Judge and newcomer Giancarlo Stanton. The Red Sox have perhaps the top two MVP candidates in frontrunner Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez.
