Senate Special Election Voter's Guide

Encouraging the active and informed participation of citizens in their government, The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA) prepares Voter's Guide for special election.

Massachusetts voters are choosing a new United States Senator to fill John Kerry’s term after his appointment as Secretary of State.  The primary election is Tuesday, April 30, and the general election is Tuesday, June 25.  Polls are open from 7am to 8pm at the Winthrop School in Hamilton and at the Town Hall in Wenham.  In the primary election, unenrolled and independent voters may choose to vote on a Democrat or Republican ballot.  If you would like to vote in the June 25 special election, register with the Town Clerk no later than June 5.

As your local League of Women Voters of Hamilton and Wenham we are pleased to forward a Senate Voter's Guide prepared by our state organization, The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts (LWVMA).   This year a team of members from the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts asked all five candidates running in the primary election for their answers to questions in key areas:

  • the economy
  • immigration
  • climate change
  • gun safety
  • campaign finance reform

Where the candidate declined to respond, a link to the candidates website is provided. The candidates were asked to limit their responses to 200 words. The candidates are listed in alphabetical order by party.
