
Pingree School in South Hamilton will host its annual Empty Bowl fund raiser and Arts Celebration on Friday, May 18 at the school's campus, 537 Highland Street. At 5 p.m., handmade bowls created by students and faculty will be sold for $10 each and filled with hot soup donated by Crosby's Market in Hamilton, Sea Street Soups in Manchester, 15 Walnut Street in Hamilton, Sodexo Food Service. Bread to accompany the soup will be donated by Piantedosi Bread. All proceeds will support the purchase of a freezer for Acord Food Pantry in Hamilton. Student volunteers include Keith Morency of Hamilton, Maddie Dwortz of Marblehead, Veronica Monteiro and Bridget Healey of North Andover, Jimmy O'Hare of Swampscott, and Connie Truong of Lawrence.
Following the Empty Bowls sale and meal, there will be a Student Art Show Opening at 6:30 p.m. in the Bertolon Family Gallery, followed by a reading of poetry, essays, and short stories from the newly published Pegasus literary and arts magazine in the school theater at 7 p.m. and a dance and theater concert at 7:30 p.m., also in the theater.
The public is invited. There is no fee for admission. Handicapped accessible.
