Grapevine Road Closed After Tree Falls on Wires, Power is Out

A tree that fell on electric wires has closed a portion of Grapevine Road on Saturday morning.

Grapevine Road in Wenham is closed on Saturday morning after a tree fell on electric wires.

The tree came down at about 7:30 a.m. The road is closed between Larch Row and Essex Street. No estimate was immediately available about when the road may be reopened.

Residents in the area are also without power.

National Grid spokeswoman Debbie Drew said as of 11:30 a.m. a tree crew was still working to remove the tree. Power was cut to 19 homes so the repairs could be conducted, she said.

Once the tree is removed, National Grid crews will restore power, Drew said. She expects power will be restored by 1 p.m.
