Great Finds and Flowers on the Slate of Weekend Events

Take a quick look at some of the local events happening this weekend in Hamilton and Wenham and nearby on the North Shore.

Wenham Museum's popular Attic Treasures sale, nationally known comedians in Beverly and a free flower show at Gordon College are all on the weekend events calendar. And there's a lot of other events going on in Hamilton and Wenham and the nearby area of the North Shore.

1. ATTIC TREASURES SALE

Where/When: Wenham Museum; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Why Go: There's no coicidence that people line up outside Wenham Museum every time its hosts the Attic Treasures sale, one of the musuem's largest fundraisers. This is not a sale of anything from the museum's collection, instead it is donated items ranging from furniture to books and everything in between.

Pricing: Free admission, prices vary.

2. WICKED FUNNY COMEDY TOUR

Where/When: North Shore Music Theater; Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Comedians that are so funny they have appeared on Comedy Central and USA - among many other places - will appear on the stage in Beverly on Saturday night in a fundraiser for North Shore Elder Services. Comedians that are appearing include Chris Zito, Dave Russo, Kelly MacFarland and Kevin Flynn.

Pricing: $40 for upper seats, $50 for inner seats.

3. 2ND ANNUAL RACE FOR RICEY

Where/When: Brown School, Peabody; Saturday, 8:30 a.m.

Why Go: The charitable 5K road race is in memory of Peabody firefighter James Rice, who was killed in the line of duty Dec. 23, 2011. Proceeds from the race benefit the James Rice Memorial Fund. There's also a one mile fun run/walk that begins at 8:30 a.m. with the 5K going off at 9 a.m. You can find more information here.

Pricing: $10 fun run/walk, $20 for 5K

4. CUT-A-THON AT THE HAIR CUTTERY

Where/When: The Hair Cuttery, Danvers; Sunday, 5-8 p.m.

Why Go: The Hair Cuttery will host a cut-a-thon to support the victims and families affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. Haircuts will be $10 with all proceeds being donated to the One Fund Boston.

Pricing: $10

5. 'THE SCIENCE OF BEAUTY OF SPRING' FLOWER SHOW

Where/When: Ken Olson Science Center, Gordon College; Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Why Go: The show will deliver a "lovely display of floral arrangements" from several award-winning floral designers. Best of all, it is free.
