Hamilton Officer Suffered Superficial Arm Injury in Cruiser Crash

The Hamilton police officer that was involved in a cruiser crash last week was headed to backup another officer who was checking on a suspicious car, according to Hamilton Police. He received a minor arm injury.

The crash happened at 9:53 p.m. on Wednesday on Miles River Road, according to report by Hamilton Police Lt. Scott Janes. Officer Joe Achadinha was driving on Essex Street toward Miles River Road in a cruiser when he swerved to avoid a collision with a deer near 120 Miles River Road “and then skidded sideways along the right side of the road, striking a tree.”

The road was wet at the time of the crash.

Achadinha had been called to the Chebacco Lake boat ramp off Chebacco Road to backup Officer Michael Girolimon, who was checking on a vehicle, Janes said.

Achadinha had a superficial wound to his right arm and was taken by Lyons ambulance to Beverly Hospital, where he was treated and released, Janes said.
