Is There Any Money Left in the Snow Plowing Budgets?
Winter kicked into high gear during the second half of the season, dumping several storms of plowable snow.

After a snowless landscape in January and early February, winter kicked into high gear for the second half of the season. And with it came a lot of snow removal work by both Hamilton and Wenham?
So did they overspedn the snow and ice budgets?

"We budgeted $213,183 this year, which represents 85 percent of a 5 year high average," said Hamilton Finance Director Deborah Nippes-Mena.

And there is still $2,560.82 left in the budget.
"Should there be another major storm, we will run a deficit," she said.
In Wenham, the annual snow and ice budget is $106,000, which has been the same amount since Highway Department Director Bill Tyack started, even though the price of salt has doubled during that time, he said.
"It is a challenge every year but after we are done repairing plows and replacing cutting edges I expect to have about $15,000 left over and almost no sand/salt mix left," he said.
