Tell Us Which Sidewalks Should Top the Repair List

Hamilton Annual Town Meeting voters in May . And now town leaders, including the Board of Selectmen and Director John Tomasz, are .

Tomasz said on Wednesday that about 2,500 feet of asphalt sidewalk could be repaired and about 2,000 feet of cement sidewalk could be repaired with the money.

One of the other decisions that need to be made is whether sidewalks should be asphalt or cement.

Tomasz told the Board of Selectmen on Monday it costs about $15 per foot for asphalt, $30 per foot for concrete and $45 per foot for brick.

He hopes to have the work completed by fall.

The Board of Selectmen plan to walk around the downtown to look at some of the sidewalks that may need repair. Tomasz mentioned Lorenzo Avenue, Linden Street, Mill Street and Railroad Avenue as some of the street that are being considered because of the amount of use. He also used the sidewalk along Hamilton Avenue as an example of some of the issues - from varying width to bumps and cracks, plus overgrown bushes - with town sidewalks.
